Planning Spaces
I want my classroom to feel open, a place where the students and the teacher can have discussions and the students aren't confined to desks in rows with a teacher in the front of the room lecturing them all day long.
The link below was provided by one of my peers and is a great tool for teachers to help in planning out how they want to set up their classroom.
I used the tool myself and below is a screenshot of how I set up my classroom.
In setting up my classroom I wanted to make sure that I was able to include choice for the students and chances for collaboration.
The desks are set up in a semi-circle around the projector and a circular rug that will be where the students will gather. I placed the desks in a semi-circle to allow for everyone to see everyone else and because I believe it will help to facilitate discussion between the students.
The back of the classroom, or the portion that is below the desks on the picture, is where I will have various stations and learning centers set up. The stations will also have free time activites, such as reading or crafts.

Digital Technologies
Within my space there will definitely be a computer station for students to use for research when needed. Also there are many web-based education games or activities that can be utilized by students during free time or during learning centers.
One such website is e-learning for kids on which students can find math, language arts, science and other course material in the form of games. The website can be navigated safely and easily by either clicking on the subject you want to focus on or the grade level you are working with. The link to this website can be found below. I would use this and other such websites in my class to give students a safe and educational experience while exploring digital technology.
